All sun protection, however, is not created equal. Sun protection is a function of two things, the actual weave of the fabric and a fabric treatment that is applied as the garment is being made. The fabrics we use for Fish Monkey gloves feature a much finer weave that better blocks the sun. Yes, this fabric is a bit more expensive but the sun protection is significantly better and well worth the additional cost, especially when one considers that the treatments that others rely on for much of the sun protection in their garments, wears off, especially with washing. I use the fish monkey freestyle because I want full finger coverage. I do most of my fishing in the fall to winter. Most days it alone will do the job. When it gets below freezing I wear a surgical glove under them. When it gets to single digits or less I put a hand warmer in the palm as well.
Summer time I usually canoe race in the MR340. 340 miles on the Missouri River between KC and St. Louis in just over 80hrs maximum. That race will literally eat your hands off you, I see wrecked hands every year. I wear my Fish Monkey Free styles. Again I want full finger coverage. I have 4 pair put on a fresh pair everytime one gets too wet. Have yet to get a blister with them. Outstanding gloves for more than just fishing.
I had an odd request and sent a message to Fish Monkey by email and on Facebook. They got back to my email and told me they couldn’t accommodate my needs. My Facebook message included a picture of my hand to show what I was looking for. The same person replied to my FB message the next day and said “We actually do have something that will work for you” Wow! That’s customer service right there! I bought the gloves and a face shield immediately. Not only are the gloves as awesome as everyone says they are, this face shield is the bees knees! Not only does it protect you from the sun but it’s also very cool unlike others and it has vent holes so my glasses aren’t getting foggy all the time. I wish I could give 100 stars!

I really love the idea of this glove for my salt water fly fishing. So I bought 2.
Unfortunately i am allergic to the soft material in the velcro wrist band. So i got a bad rash. Must be a Neoprene derivative. I wish the specifications online would be very specific as to what materials are used.

I bought two pair os XL gloves. One pair fit fine, the other were so small, I could not get my hand in the glove. I have tried to return the one pair with no response from the seller. Very disappointed.

I am on thinners and have problems cutting my hands and due to type 2 diabetes I have a hard time keeping my skin healing! These gloves are perfect for me. Love full size fish monkey. You can also cut the fingers off you want to and the glove won’t shred! Awesomeness

I fish with braid on spinning tackle. When throwing heavy baits or large lures the braid really cuts into the finger. I also have arthritis pretty bad in my hands so holding the rod for long periods is hard. I never intended to cut the fingers off as the intention was to protect the fingers and hand. These are better than expected. I am getting a pair for my son also. They grip very good, the sensitivity of the touchscreen feature is better then a bare finger and I had to wrap a leader around my hand to land a fish and it was so easy. I very highly recommend these.
